You can have a 3 second delay before an AVR change input request every time and it's no big deal. The flag just invites something to get out of sync.
OTOH, the monitor may take 8-15 seconds to switch on power up, so you are stuck with flags there. Remember to set the flags on every macro, and clear the flag at power off.
