I played around with editing the drivers a few days after they came out and hit a mostly dead end.

However, if you use some sort of hex editing program, you can edit stuff as long as you don't change the number of characters in the whole driver. I was able to make changes to the titles of some of the variable names as they show up in ID, but that's about it. I assume it would probably work the same if you went in and edited strings, as long as they stayed the same length.

I remember trying a bunch of different programs to do this, but I'm pretty sure the one I ended up using was called HEX edit.
