It's still just Dolby Pro Logic decoded from stereo audio. It can sound good - for stereo - but it's not close to what you'd get from real lossless 5.1 or 7.1 HD. Quality wise it IS a notch up from stereo downmixed from ordinary Dolby Digital.
(And with that said, different people have different ideas of what sounds good - so if you're happy, then that's all that really counts.)
