I have been using the Philips PM335 universal remote control with the Advent Q2035A flat tube TV for sometime because I don't have the original remote. Sometimes I pressed a wrong button on the remote the control can be lost, but usually I just reprogrammed. The codes published on the PM335 manual for advent doesn't really work, so I searched the web and use 0118 which works for me.

Yesterday, while the tv is on (on video mode) as I was watching DVD, I accidently pressed the PIP (picture in picture) button on the remote control and I lost the control over the tv. But this time, even the buttons on the tv panel (on/off switch, volume and channel etc) all failed to work. I unplugged the tv and plugged it back in, the tv turns on immediately (with red and green indicator lights on) but the screen is dark. If I press any button on the tv panel (other than the power button), the tv turns off. The power button doesn't work at all. I then unplugged the tv for overnight (>8 hours) and plugged back in. It's the same problem!

I searched the web, and it seems that certain codes from the universal remote control can kill the Advent TV (erased the content on one of its EEPROM, e.g.). Now I'm just wondering if there's a way to restore the original factory setting on the this TV without changing the EEPROM and Microprocessor? Is there a way to "hard reset" the tv, or enter the service mode without using remote control? Note I don't have the original Advent TV remote control. Thanks a lot!
