Yesterdays special features are todays entry level bells and whistles. This is a constant fact with consumer electronics and control systems are not immune. C4 is growing (as they should be) because they target a market that continues to grow. The entry to mid level homes.
This doesnt mean that Crestron or the high end market is disappearing. What it means is that the entire industry as a whole is expanding (just like it always has). The higher end is still there and as CE pricing falls more and more people are able to afford our products and services.
A $100k system yesterday can be done (and better) for 1/3 of that today. If Crestron didnt create an entry level product they would have found themselves sitting alone at the top of a very small hill. While lower end control systems cant compete with full blown Crestron systems, they do a great job of mimicking the low and mid level Crestron systems.. at a much lower price.
