Update: Changed the base station ID to "A"... changed flasher brands... changed remote to RF only and base station output to Port 6. Turned flasher output all the way down to start, and then gradually increased intensity. After standing in the dark in the basement for 15 minutes holding the flasher at all distances and angles, I found the sweet spot: on top of the box, with output at full intensity. And it works -- 80% of the time. These boxes were definitely designed for use in whole-house video distribution systems.
