Just want to give a quick review i posted on the schmart forum, over here.

I received my unit today. Just wanted to give a quick review.

First of all it paired quickly and easily with my ps3. I tried the power sensing but it was not working. Then I realized I had to enable it in the program.

I connected it to my pc, it installed quickly. I was one of the first to get the pro where the unit would not install properly and then would not update by firmware, and not work with the upgrading software. So this was good.

Then I opened the program and it started to hang and not respond. It said device connected but I could not select anything. I rebooted my pc, and it did the same thing. Then I unplugged the Ir-1000, loaded the program, then connected the IR-1000 and it worked. Dont know if this was covered in the instructions, but it finally worked.

I created a macro to launch blue ray movies (I created one in my remote already thanks to one of the forum members) but doing it in the program itself worked slightly quicker. I have an IR-RF setup, so it didnt make much of a difference, but it was still a few seconds quicker letting the IR-1000 handle the macro and my remote just sending one command, I also have my remote macro switching inputs so this sped it up few seconds. For those with IR setups though this would be a huge plus, you can just send one command and let the 1000 do the rest instead of holding and keeping it pointed.

I tried to teach my MX-810 the macro but it didnt seem to work. Not a big deal, I copied the hex code for the macro into my remote.

Anyway, all in all I got everything to work, power sensing, macros, all work quickly and properly.

Im very happy i have power sensing, i can turn the ps3 on manually when I go to insert a game, and dont have to worry about my remote getting out of sync so it was worth it. Home automation is important to me, especially having it setup efficiently so others can use it easily.

By far schmart offers the best bang for you dollar out of any of the competitors. I highly suggest power sensing for anyone who wants 100 percent reliability.

He also offers a 40 dollar credit for existing customers who purchased a pro! You want find that kind of loyalty to your customer anywhere else.

Unless you need RS232, schmart by far offers everything you need at the lowest price compared to the competition.

I dont know why people would go with the logitech now, other then the fact its logitech, and they like the company, but as far as features and price, schmarts 500 does everything the logitech can, and more for 20 dollars less. And power sensing for 79 dollars cant be found anywhere else.
