Logitech's database has a "PS3 Off" function listed for this adapter, however it is not a unique command. Whenever I learn it, all I get is the command associated with the [PS] button. Which most likely means that the "PS3 Off" function as listed is merely a shutdown macro that plays back on the Harmony (and I haven't managed to learn the final few commands). The only other possibility is that a sustained press of [PS] triggers an onboard macro, however this seems unlikely. I'll know more when I get an adapter.
Im looking at the schmart device because of power sensing, i dont always use the remote to turn on the ps3, sometimes when i put in a game, i turn it on, on the machine itself. And then its out of sync. Does logitech have codes that work around this on/off problem (since the ps3 button turns it on, and the ps3 button is also used to turn it off) if they worked around this using codes it would be great, but schmart seems to be the only one and he has a usb cable for the ps3 to sense wether its off and on.
The Logitech has absolutely no onboard PS3 power tracking. So there's no hardware monitoring support, and not even onboard variable tracking - remember, the Harmony remote itself has variable-based tracking of device power status, so they expect you to use that. This adapter really *is* meant for Harmony owners. Of course, variable-based tracking can get out-of-sync with something like the PS3 that's prone to turning on very easily! :-)
Three PS3 adapters currently have hardware power monitoring. Audio Authority BlueBeam (although it has yet to be enabled in software), IR2BTci (most sophisticated options so far) and the Schmartz PS3IR-1000 (as you mention).
