I actually dropped a hammer on a brand-new polished timber floor once. I almost didn't look until the builder came in and said: "It's all good mate, you won't mark it!"
I couldn't believe it when I looked, and there wasn't even a scratch!
Had the same issue once with hot solder dripping off a wire I was tinning. Landed on the floor, dried and then lifted straight off without a hint of sticking.
I use a dropsheet religiously these days...
