Great link. I spent the last half hour reading thru some very good information for anyone planning on having work done in/on their home.

I have been doing CI work for 15 years. I can only remember 1 project that was completely done on the day that it was supposed to be. It was an apartment downtown. The client told the builder "i want this place to look like a million bucks". When the builder was done it looked like 10 million bucks.

The blogger you linked to lists everything i noticed about that project. The most important IMO is having a schedule for when things should be done so you can tell how far off they are from hitting the mark and having something in writing about the way they treat your home. The builder had someone who stood at the door all day to make sure that everyone entering the apartment put shoe covers on and wrapped tools in foam before they were allowed to enter.

It was one of the few times i was able to get to a project and just start working because everyone else was done.
