Read section 4.5 about the checksum calculation. By changing your ID character, the checksum is now incorrect so the panel will ignore the command entirely, assuming an error. The checksum character is the last before the carriage return at the end. I use windows calculator for xor in hex. NEC might have a tool somewhere

That protocol sucks.
