I'm going to shotgun several things to try here in hopes that you are up to speed on Javascript and Wireless networking.

It could be that your router is not properly handling DNS lookups. If you can control your PC but cannot hit the net, then it is likely a DNS problem.

What is your connection information from PEP and what shows on the Settings Screen of the remote? What is your router and router firmware version?

The Dev Guide shows an example of doing an HTTP request to google or some other site by host name vs IP. You might want to try that. There are also other small examples of downloading dynamic image content in this forum that I've seen. You could supply a URL from the web and see if you can pull the image.
