Let me step in for anyone who did any of the contest entries
and say that many of us do not have a real remote to test
with and had no way of knowing that this would be an issue.

I remembered from PPENG, that total transparent buttons won't work, but when "mine" worked in the simulator, I figured, they solved the problem in the meantime.
