It sounds like you are not connecting to his network, therefore none of your commands will work in network mode. You need to make sure that the 9600 is set correctly to access the wireless access point on the home network. Then you will be able to send commands through the 9400 and communicatre with the FP1. The 9400 will not serve as your access point for the home network, it only lives as a wired component on the network when used in network mode. Hope this helps and let us know if you get it resolved.
