You can operate the RFX9400 in conjunction with a TSU9600 in Standalone mode. The RFX9400 does not support Serial, Relay, or Power Sense capabilities, only IR. It should also be noted that the RFX9400 does not have an IR Blaster like the older RFX6000/6500's and therefore requires the used of wired emitters. However, both the RFX9400/9600 have built-in IR routing capabilities. That is, you can specify that a particular device sends commands to a specific IR port (1-4). Whereas the older extenders transmitted IR in broadcast mode to the 4 wired ports and the IR Blaster on the front of the unit. The allows one the capability to control multiple devices that utilize the same IR Codeset (4 example, 4 Sony CD/DVD Changers all operating in Command Mode 1) without having to resort to using IR Routing available on products such as the Xantech RT-8.

The RFX9600 Serial extender requires that a wired network connection be used (to be read as... Must be connected to an existing network).
