If it's a learned command, you can use Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V
to copy and paste it to another device.

If it's an IR
database command, using the above procedure or assigning
it via the "Edit and Label Buttons" panel will only create
a shortcut to its original location (which means you can't
delete the original).
Deleting the original was the very reason we wanted to do this. It seemed to work great. I'll test it tomorrow.
Back story: I've got a Hitachi CP-X250 device, and was looking for discrete on/off codes. I downloaded a configuration file for a different Hitachi projector (PJ-TX100) from this website and imported it, in the hopes that its discrete on/off codes would work. And they did. So I was able to copy them, along with a discrete S-Video code and a discrete Component code, to the Hitachi CP-X250 device and afterwards delete the PJ-TX100 device.
The manual advertised as the MX850 editor manual is actually a manual for the MX700 and MX800 editors. It describes a drop-and-drag technique for doing this type of copying, but it doesn't work! It acts like it will, as you hover over the target button, and when you drop it the target button is highlited. But it just desn't happen.
I was also wondering about to create shortcuts, and you answered that, too. Thanks again.
