The mx-700 uses a "serial" port.
Most new computers don't have serial ports.
Lpt is paralal btw.
Won't work.

Serial ports are com1,2,3 etc.
If you don't have a serial port you will need a usb to serial adaptor, keyspan is the best.

Serial(rs232) is what you need.
You may need a USB to serial adaptor.
Not lpt, that's a pararlel(normally your printer) port.

BTW Most likely you DID NOT GET THE CABLE.
You will need a serial cable to connect to your mx-700
Plus a USB to serial adaptor if you have no serial on your computer.
