This is exactly how I do it as well. It works flawlessly. My wife will occationally pick up the remote and press "ON", so having that be the same as the "watch/cable" is perfect. As for the A1, Bubby could always create pages like "please", "wait", "remote", "is", "working", and place them in the middle of a long macro for powering the A1 down. That way, a novice user would know they pressed the button and things are happening.
