I have a set of components behind in an equipment room
with a wooden door that I need to control, and thus need
an RF unit. These are the components that I have or on
the way:

- Oppo 971 DVD
- Panasonic SA-XR55 Receiver
- JVC SVHS (model unknown)
- Comcast DVR and/or Tivo Series 2 (in the process of
switching to Comcast DVR)
- Panasonic AE900U (though this isn't in the equipment
room but is in the theater room)
- A HTPC setup that'll serve as the audio / DVD jukebox,
yet to be built
- I'd like to add a distribution amp for the whole house
audio, so RF range will be important.

I'd like some programmable soft buttons, and ideally the
ability to use PC to program the remote. The programming
is probably limited to simple macros to do "activity type"
macros, and to learn/code any new components.

Normally the Harmony 890 looks pretty good, but the rash
of negative reports on this forum scares me. Has these
issues been resolved?

And how are the URC offerings? I was thinking about the
URC 300, but unsure due to their plethora of offerings
and similarity in their other series, such as the MX-*.
And their new support policy also seems suspect.

Thanks for any input.

The 890 will do fine.

Your AE900 projector doesn't have discretes for input selection, which makes it very awkward to set up with a remote that doesn't remember what input is currently selected. The 890 has Smart State which makes life a lot easier.
