If anyone has asked, I'd be interested to get ananswer to this question. UPnP control is only modestly attractive. The reason is that, as far as I can tell, remotes like the NevoSL and the Pronto 9800i let you control their own MP3 software and not the UPnP device natively.
What's the problem with this? You're limited to the capabilities and functionality of the Nevo or Philips software vs that of the UPnP device itself. That means you also have to wait on those folks, and not your device manufacturer, to fix bugs and add new features, etc. I could be wrong on this (and if I am, someone please say so), but that's what it looks like.
So, my question is, are the Nevo folks working on specific control integration for Escient units? If that would allow you to have access to all the controls that you normally would through IR or Escient's built-in web interface, that would be much better than the above. Anyone know if this is the case?
