So far, after doing the update, I still have about 2/3rd battery power after one day, which illustrates the new updates are working well. Granted, I am not using the remote that much and only occasionally for Wi-Fi, but this is a big improvement. Also indicates the timeout features are definately saving battery life and the remote wakes up very quickly, with wi-fi capability.
