The only way to do what you want to do is by using the NC-50.
If you use Xantech emitters then you can purchase emitter covers to hold the emitter in place. Other brand may also have this option.
The best place is as far away from electrical "noise" as possible. Depending on your layout, that may be in the bottom or the top of the cabinet, possibly in the cupboard next to the equipment.
You will need to create two TiVo devices. Call them different names like TiVo 1 and TiVo 2. Then put them on different port numbers.
As for the IR from the Q50. If you do not select a port number then the IR will emit from the Q50.
