Might work if you have a source playing, otherwise their
should be no voltage on the tape monitor outputs.

So I guess I'm wondering if this would work. How would
the Sensor tell if the unit is on or off if there is nothing
playing through the receiver?

I think I'd just purchase that CS12V I was mentioning
early - probably more robust.

i would guess if its off, there would be no voltage. so the command would turn the receiver on. I think the problem would be, if the customer mutes the stereo, then tries to turn it off, it probably wouldnt turn off. (since the voltage sensor would think the unit is already off)

Unfortunately I wont get a chance to check on this project. The boat that the Teac was on has left, and the customer will have to deal with a toggle code for power for now, which he seems to be OK with. If the boat ever comes back for service, I will be sure to try it out though.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm sure your way is better and I will do that in the future. My idea to use the video sensor seemed like a good idea at the time :)
