Hopefully DLink will eventually fix this - in the meantime,
one cheesy workaround is to display a picture via the DLink remote (or DLink IR commands programmed into your RC9800i). This clears off the UI, then you can send videos via the UPnP interface.
(At least my recollection is this worked ok with the previous
firmware release for the DSM-320)
