This remote doesn't use WiFi for controlling the devices such as equipement in the basement (unlike the NevoSL). The WiFi is used to control an UpNp server/renderer combination, such as a sl400i of philips (not many more devices are compatible).

I think you might want to look into the NevoSL or the latest pronto model TSU9600 [Link: remotecentral.com] (I don't know the specs but this one might be more suitable for your use). Both suggestion are much more expensive.
