Well, Philips hasn't updated the firmware in quite a while, and from the looks of things it seems there might not be anymore updates. I guess it only matters if the remote can do the things you want - it handles multiple rooms nicely, but isn't really customizable.
Will I have any problems on the power supply etc?
I can't recall if the RC9800i's charger has 110v and 220v support. If you buy the remote locally then you should be fine.
Any opinions would be gratefull as I am down to either
this or a harmony 880
Your best option (if possible) would be to try both and return the one you like the least.
