Man, you have one heck of a fast finger. I set
up my computer to count keystrokes as I pushed
a key and the fastest I could come up was 67 pushes
in 10 seconds and there was no way I could count
them. :)
Pround member of the Nintendo generation. :) I started practicing that skill at a very young age.
Also, chances are that your computer keyboard has a much longer travel distance than the Pronto keys.

There is only one light, it seems. It's all on, or all off.

command while some of the other buttons turn the
light on and send there command with one push?
Correct. The 4 buttons around the D-Pad never send their commands on first push, if the backlight is off. The D-pad, vol, channel, and mute seem to always send commands. The firm buttons seem to sometimes send commands on first push, and sometimes not.
