John,
Where to you get the idea that the hard buttons
can not be assigned globaly????

If they can't be done globaly, then what's the
point of the hard buttons?

I found out about this, as far as I am concerned, bug by setting my hard keys to the defaults I wanted in system properties and finding that on the real remote they weren't available on any of my devices. Same thing when I tried assigning them using home properties.

So it may be a PITA compared with the treatment of global hard keys on the 1000/2000 but you need to assign every hard key you want to have a function associated with in each device. However, this does go a lot faster in PENG than it did in PE.

Mike,

AFAIK, you can't link to the system hard keys. This may be a bug which is introduced due to the fact that the system pages are dynamically generated. I did notice that there is no mention of being able to set global defaults for hard keys in the help, this was a tip off that the behavior I was seeing, but not expecting, was normal for the new remote.
