RoboMonkey, I know this doesn't totally address your concern - but keep in mind that the US one *lists* at $400. Given that it's likely the European version will be available online at a discount, it's only reasonable to compare list to list or retail to retail, but not to compare list to retail. :-)
Funny, though - when I bought my 1000, it was cheaper for me here in Canada to order a European model from the UK than to buy a US model.
