I just plugged it in to the usb hub on the back of my MS keyboard and it works like a dream.
1. Do you use other USB devices? If not, make sure your bios is enabled for usb.
2. what error message are you getting?
3. try each usb port on your PC. Sometimes you need to be using the "primary" ones.
