I bet it won't work.
It doesn't make a difference whether you use a long or a short press. Even if you keep the button pressed until ProntoEdit says it finished, it will give you exactly the same result...
Right now I am testing all the different buttons (which is hard to do when my wife is watching television). I am sure I will get it done by tommorow.
There is just one thing I do not understand: where do the working codes come from? Did the older Pronto models do better on these codes?
