I was going to get a tsu7500 because my 7000 may
be developing some problems. However my understanding
is that with the tsu7500:
my macros will no longer work because of timing
problems and at other times
macros may cancel

In other words I could not apparently expect to
download my current tsu7000 configuration file
and expect to begin happily use the tsu7500 because
of the above problems.

Is my understanding correct? I ask becasue I hate
to think of buying the older tsu7000 but may have
to because the tsu7500 does not work properly.
Many thanks.

I don't think anyone has claimed that to be the case. Some people are reporting problems with the new 7000 firmware but that does not necessarily translate to the 7500.
