Make sure that you fully seat the 7500 in the cradle.
Simply dropping the 7500 in the cradle will not make contact.

Good bet that it is a cradle or power supply issue.

I really ensured that I got it to be properly seated, as well as using different power supplies (it was supplied with a 110v plug pack, so I had to dig out a couple of spare 240v plugpacks with appropriately wired plugs and output voltage).

The actually battery voltage was around 4.5v , so that wasn't flat to start off with, so I should have at least seen it start up, which it didn't, so I'm assuming that the pronto was DOA anyway, and if the cradle can't "see" the pronto being plugged in, it won't indicate it trying to charge it.

Anyway, I've been in touch with the vendor, who has told me to ship it back to them in the USA and they will replace it with a new one. So now I have to wait another couple of weeks until they get it back and send the replacement.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions, none of them worked unfortunately, but I now know what to try if the replacement doesn't start up immediately. :)
