As far as control... can't tell ya
The Pioneer doesn't upconvert, if that matters to you, and hold 100 less DVDs, and is more expensive.
I'm sure the TSU7000 can be programmed to control the Pioneer just as well as it does the Sony. Search the 995's model # in this site and you sure to find posts from Lowpro. He developed a pcf. for running the older version of the 995, (985???) From what I hear people love the way it functions.
If your looking for more of a comparison between to the two units, you may get a better response in the Home Theater forum.
