Springs - yes, the Sony VW50 and JVC RS1 are actually the top two contenders (I'm looking into upgrading my 720p Marantz VP-12S3). Critical areas for me are: the actual picture performance differences between the two, fan noise, and ability/ease of create Pronto macros via discrete commands. I want to at least ensure that I have complete discrete commands via IR.

A little off topic, but how does the fan noise of the JVC RS1 compare to the Sony VW50? In my setup, the projector is almost right above where I sit (just slightly behind), so little fan noise is important for me.
