On thing that I've noticed is that image placement can be made very simple by enabling the grid and choosing the maximum values for row and column.

I've been working on a LowPro knock-off PCF that uses basically the same concepts. Before anyone gets their feeling hurt, remember that this is research for something that I hope will come to fruition before Philips changes the PCF file format to something else.
