I have a remote that is very similar.
Yes it is in the component not the screen as I put a new screen on and it was the same. This one is not all white but very close. It seems what ever controls the contrast of the LCD is having issues. I changed the brightness in the cfg. and it
made it a little bit better but not near good enough.
I contacted Philips and the tech support was no help at all.
I am a Tech Support Supervisor and will not bash other support, but it is dissapointing to get little help.
If I figure out which component it the issue I will post it for all else to repair.
