These are required if glasstop is not the same size.
If there were different glasstop sizes and you did not
cut the bezel, this may indeed be the reason you are failing
calibration as something is keeping screen pressed on
that corner.
Lyndel (w/ one L), I got a PM from him, you won't belive. He can calibrate, but inverted. Never saw that. :-) He most have got a wrong part.
