Now for the question... Since NetX is a standard
802.11(b) device, and can be addressed via it's
IP address (e.g., Ping 192.168.1.106), is there
any way to control the NetX, and thus the equipment
attached to the NetX's IR devices, through PC's
on the network? Has anyone tried this?

I believe that Philips are investigating whether it is possible to release the protocols that the iPronto uses to communicate with the NetXtender.

Also, wouldn't this capability suggest that there
should be an 'emulation' mode in iProntoEdit?
In this mode one could test one's buttons and
sequences directly from the software, with the
IR codes being sent via the network to the NetX,
and then to the devices?

Yes you could ... but see below.

Is there such a capability?

No ... I think the lack of an emulator with this facility is probably more to do with the fact that if you could emulate this without needing an iPronto then there would be a huge number of people just downloading the software and running the emulator on a touchscreen PC. ;-)
