I guess that depends on whether you are happy dropping out to a web browser for some operations.
What I would like to do but don't have the skills to write is a web page which would run on the HTPC which simply displays a series of coverart thumbnails for the whole of my DVD collection - some 350 - 400 movies - which are all ripped to my server, and on clicking a thumbnail would just run a batch file to map that DVD's ISO image as a virtual drive which TheaterTek could then play.
At the moment I just use IR to control my HTPC.
