I have been working with athaler and have finished a program that will take a standard learned code, and repeat the the "repeat burst" string, adjusting the header so that it will be of any time duration you want.
Unfortunately the Philips people also made sure that would not work. There are some maximums associated with how many bytes long an IR pattern can be. My testing indicates about 510 values or 255 burst pairs. For athalers case that was about 0.6 seconds, not very long.
I am very suspicious of the issue with the holding the key down. Has any one ever verified with an oscope that the same pattern just keeps coming out and not something special.
