I have a Belkin B and G router which is set to
mixed mode, and my iPronto has the latest firmware,
and I have not experienced that problem. Not sure
that your problem is down to this, although maybe
different machines behave differently. Maybe try
forcing a firmware update again, in case something
didn't update correctly last time? It's got to
be worth a try before you give up 802.11g access
speeds on your network.

Unfortunately, if you use a 802.11b device on your network (such as the iPronto) your network will only run at 802.11b speeds anyway. Whether you have 802.11g active or not.

That's one of the downsides of using mixed devices. The whole network will slow down to the lowest speed device.
