Another cause is that Ipronto has a bug that prohibits multiple repetitions of the same digit in a macro called from another button.
This drove me mad until I replaced calls to "macro" buttons sending multiple "cursor up" commands with just the same command list in the original button. This is a pain but works!
Weird, huh!
