In response to customer requests the Harmony Remote Team is happy to announce the release of the Device Power Option, which allows you to leave devices on when changing Activities. This latest option will be especially useful for those people that want to jump back and forth between Activities but have a particular device with a long power on/off cycle or a feature on one of your devices that resets when turning the device off. This new feature will also enhance the ‘Record Television’ Activity, allowing you to enjoy a different Activity while still recording your favourite shows.

Any devices that have been powered on as part of one Activity will remain on when other Activities are selected, even if those devices are not included as part of the new Activity. At the end of the day when you are finished with your entertainment system all of the devices will be powered off by pressing the Power/Activity button twice.

You can apply this option to a single Activity or as a Global Setting.

To apply as a Global Setting:
1.From your Harmony home page click on ‘My Remote Preferences’ and then ‘Modify the Xml for a Remote Preference’.
2.Select ‘Global Settings’ and modify the file to include the following XML immediately after the <GLOBALSETTINGS> node is opened:

<OPTIONS>
<OPTION>
<NAME>PowerOffUnusedDevices</NAME>
<VALUE>False</VALUE>
</OPTION>
</OPTIONS>

3.If a <GLOBALSETTINGS> node does not exist, then add one immediately after the <CONFIGURATOR> node is opened.

Note: If a ‘Global Settings’ Configurator does not exist then add one by going to the Harmony home page and selecting Add an Activity/Add one Activity/Utility/Global Settings.

To apply to a single Activity:
1.From your Harmony home page click on ‘Customize’ next to the appropriate Activity.
2.Select ‘Modify the XML for this Activity’ and modify the file to include the following XML immediately after the <CONFIGURATOR> node is opened:

<OPTIONS>
<OPTION>
<NAME>PowerOffUnusedDevices</NAME>
<VALUE>False</VALUE>
</OPTION>
</OPTIONS>

If you would like more information on this feature or assistance with configuring your Harmony Remote then please e-mail the Harmony Support Team [email protected] and we will be glad to assist you.
