You've hit on the one big fault in the One - and it's a fault that Logi really ought not to have made - the lack of dedicated colour hard buttons.
The answer to your question is that you get virtual colour buttons on the LCD screen, and maybe they will be all right for you there, but for most people they are not good enough, and we have had to copy them over to hard buttons that we don't need for anything else.
