What is the model number of your Samsung TV? When you add a device, it comes with an IR dataset from the Harmony database. When you configure a device (power & input settings), you don't need the OEM remote. The OEM remote should be use only to teach missing commands or to confirm the IR dataset for devices supporting multiple IR datasets (for multiple modes).

Many devices support discrete commands even if they are not on the OEM remote. You should check all the available dataset commands in device mode. Check the Device > Settings > Customize buttons > Standard & Additional Buttons to see which label names is associated with which command names. Don't confuse label names with command names. If your device supports discrete input selection, then it's the method (Method 2) you should use.
