One thing with most Sony devices is that there are often control codes NOT on the original remote that can be used to go directly to some features more precisely.

I find them for all my devices just manually searching through every possible EFC number from 000 to 255 on a cheap OneForAll remote. I keep a written log of what each number did, then use that list and the oneforall to teach the unique codes to my 880.
