Thanks for the suggestion but no joy.
Tried another firmware reload, in safe mode, but still nothing.

Logitech said perhaps my motion sensor has an issue. Although if it's been sitting for a while it does turn the glow on if bumped which has me thinking it's purely a software time out issue. If the motion sensor was 'stuck on' it wouldn't be able to detect the movement that it does.
