Fixed it! finally found time to call tech support. The rep Micheal was surprisingly patient and good natured. He walked me thru a recalibraton of the touch screen. Which is doable while in the safe mode. Apparently, you take the battery out of the remote - hold down the power button - then put battery back in and this puts it into the safe mode. While in safe mode, you connect remote to lap top - sign on to web site - download firm ware - then down load wireless extender info - then download remote info & about half way thru this last step remote brings up calibration mode. After recalibrating & sending remote the info again every thing worked fine. PUSHING THE TOOLS BUTTON & HAVING RECALIBRATION AS A CHOICE WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE BUT THEN AGAIN WE'RE TALKING "HARM FOR ME" REMOTES!
