Yes. You can do it by setting up direct connections to your video inputs on your remote that came with the TV, (video1 = vcr, video 2= dvd), and then "teach" these to a learning universal. The screen modes will be a toggle switch. If you're watching DirecTV, use the ">>" or fast forward button on the RCA remote as a shortcut. Again, you can teach this to a universal.
